Nothing in that sentence is verifiable, specific, or useful to an engineer trying to decide whether to send an RFQ. It could describe any job at any shop.
The fix is not better writing, it is a fixed structure that forces specificity.
The eight-part case study structure
1. Problem
State the actual business or technical problem the customer had before working with you. Not "they needed a reliable supplier," but something specific: "Their existing supplier could not consistently hold a 0.0005 inch bore tolerance on a run of 5,000 units, resulting in a rejection rate that was disrupting their assembly line."
2. Part and Application
Describe what the part is and where it goes. "A turned aluminum housing for a hydraulic valve assembly used in mobile construction equipment" tells an engineer immediately whether this is relevant to their own sourcing situation.
3. Process
Name the actual manufacturing process used: CNC turning, 5-axis milling, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, welding. Vague process language ("precision manufacturing") signals the writer does not know or will not say what actually happened.
4. Material
State the specific material and grade. "6061-T6 aluminum" or "17-4 PH stainless steel" is credible. "A high-grade metal alloy" is not.
5. Quality Requirement
State the specific tolerance, certification, or inspection standard the job required. "Parts required 100 percent CMM inspection against a critical bore tolerance of ±0.0005 inch" gives an engineer a direct comparison point to their own drawing.
6. Solution
Describe what you actually did differently: fixturing approach, process sequencing, inspection method, tooling choice. This is where shop-floor expertise becomes visible, and it is usually the section most manufacturer case studies skip entirely in favor of restating the result.
7. Result
State the outcome factually and specifically. If you have a real number, use it and explain how it was measured. If you do not have a verified number, describe the outcome qualitatively: "rejection rate dropped to zero across the following three production runs" is defensible if true and measured; "improved quality by 40 percent" with no source is not.
8. Evidence
This is the section most case studies omit, and it is the one that actually builds trust. Evidence can include:

- A cycle time or scrap rate comparison with the measurement method noted
